This is the Austin skyline through the pillars of the Long Center in downtown along Lady Bird Lake. The long center for the performing art was name after Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long who contributed 20 million dollar toward the project. Becuase of cost the Long Center for the performing arts had to be completed in phases and it was officially completed after ten years in March 28 2008. This is a favorite place for people to come and look at the Austin skyline. We like the way the pillars frame up the city cityscape with the lighted pillars. The Long Center used 95% of recycle material from the orginal Palmer Event Center to complete the phase 1 part of the project. Phase I of the building project included the Michael & Susan Dell Hall and the Debra & Kevin Rollins Studio Theatre. The building is a circular structure with a large pavillian with this beam around held up by pillars for very unique architecture.
